Partagas was founded in 1845 by Jaime Partagas, and the factory he built in central Havana is still working. It is the most reliably full-flavoured of the classic Cuban houses: earth and leather first, then cocoa, black pepper and a dry, woody finish. Where Montecristo aims for balance, Partagas aims for weight. The Serie D No. 4 is the reference robusto for most people, the Lusitanias is the benchmark double corona, and the Linea Maestra sits at the top of the range. There are also machine-made Minis, Clubs and Puritos for short smokes.
