Davidoff made Cuban cigars until 1990, when the company broke with Habanos and moved production to the Dominican Republic. The house style stayed: precision, consistency and restraint rather than power. The white label Signature and Grand Cru lines are among the mildest premium cigars made, and are built for daytime smoking. The Black Band collection, Escurio, Nicaragua and Yamasa are the answer to the charge that Davidoff only makes gentle cigars, and Yamasa in particular is genuinely full. Construction is the most consistent of any brand at this price, which is a large part of what people are paying for.
