Cutters cigars

How you open a cigar decides how it draws. A guillotine takes a clean cap off and suits most parejo shapes; a V-cut concentrates the draw and works well on thicker ring gauges; a punch leaves the cap largely intact and is the safest choice for a beginner. What matters more than the type is the blade: a dull cutter tears the wrapper rather than slicing it, and a torn cap unravels as the cigar burns down.
