Ashtrays cigars

A cigar ashtray needs a deep well and a rest wide enough to hold a 50-plus ring gauge without the cigar rolling free. The long ash a well-made cigar holds is not for show, it insulates the burning foot and keeps the smoke cool, so the tray has to accommodate it rather than encourage you to tap it off. Porcelain and lacquered pieces also do not hold odour the way untreated stone does.
